RESEARCH GROUP CULTURAL LANDSCAPE


    The Research Group Cultural Landscape - Contemporary Interventions in the City and the Territory is an open group recently created at the Technical University of Madrid that aims to deepen and innovate in knowledge fields such as civil engineering, architecture, earth sciences, social sciences, history and art, through three work lines, construction of the memory, construction of outwardness and re-construction of landscape, under the following aspects:

  • Cultural landscape’s concept. Identity, difference and cultural diversity. Articulations between territory, heritage and society: history, architecture, industry, art, sociology, literature, philosophy.

  • Contemporary landscape’s constructors.

  • Architecture and landscape theory, history and critical theory’s development in the 20th century.

  • Landscape’s dissolution.

  • Contemporary Spanish landscape’s transformation.

  • New topographies and graphic expression. The landscape of maps.

  • Cultural values of natural landscape.

  • Interactions between architecture and engineering in modern territory’s construction.

  • Rehabilitation of industry complexes as new landscapes.

  • Project Theory: interventions in the contemporary landscape. Management and intervention.

  • New cultural landscapes. Socio-economical repercussions in the heritage context. Tourism.

  • Contemporary landscape’s intervention/re-construction.
